Washington/Dubai/Jerusalem: President Donald Trump has suggested he can participate in Israel’s ongoing military campaign against Iran, but did not stop confirming any action, leaving the world on the edge.
As Israeli air strikes continued to knock Iranian targets, and panic spread across Tehran, Trump told journalists outside the White House that he had not made a final decision.
“I can do it. I might not,” he said. “No one knows what to do.”
His vague remarks evoked speculation as to whether the United States will escalate his commitment to the spiral conflict in the Middle East.
Trump, who offers a glimpse of hope for negotiations, later said that Iranian officials would come to Washington for a meeting and that “we can do it.” But he added, “it’s a little late” to such conversations.
The Foreign Ministers in Germany, France and the UK are planning to hold nuclear conversations with their Iranian counterpart Friday in Geneva, a German diplomatic source of Reuters says. The purpose of the negotiations that the source said takes place in coordination with the United States is to persuade Iran to guarantee that it will use its nuclear program solely for civilian purposes.
The Wall Street Journal Said Trump had told senior helpers that he approved attack plans on Iran, but kept giving the final order to see if Tehran would give up his nuclear program.
When asked if he thought the Iranian government could fall as a result of the Israeli campaign, Trump said, “Sure, everything could happen.”
Trump with reference to the destruction or dismantling of Iran’s Fordow -nuclear enrichment center, Trump said, “We are the only ones who have the ability to do it. But that doesn’t mean I will do it – at all.” Military analysts believe that Israel may need US military help to destroy Fordow, dug under a mountain near the city of Qom.
Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei rejected Trump’s demand on Tuesday of unconditional surrender, and Iranians jammed off motorways out of the capital Tehran, a city of 10 million people as residents sought shrine from intensified Israeli air knit.
Khamenei, 86, reprimanded Trump in a recorded speech played on TV, his first performance since Friday.
The Americans “should know that any US military intervention will undoubtedly be accompanied by irreparable harm,” he said.
“Intelligent people who know Iran, the Iranian nation and its history will never speak to this nation in threatening language because the Iranian nation will not surrender.”
In his latest bomb attacks, Israel said its Air Force destroyed Iran’s police headquarters.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video released by his office Wednesday, Israel was “progress step by step” to eliminate threats set by Iran’s nuclear locations and ballistic missiles.
“We control the sky over Tehran. We strike tremendous force by Ayatollah’s regime. We hit the nuclear places, the missiles, the headquarters, the symbols of the regime,” Netanyahu said. The Prime Minister’s office published a photo showing Netanyahu summoning his cabinet and saying it met Wednesday night.
He also thanked Trump, “a great friend of the state of Israel” for standing by his side in the conflict and said the two were in continuous contact.
Trump has been angry from suggesting a quick diplomatic end to the war to suggest that the United States might join it. In social media posts on Tuesday he mouseed to kill Khamenei and then demanded Iran’s “unconditional surrender!”
A source familiar with internal discussions said Trump and his team were considering opportunities that included joining Israel in strikes against Iranian nuclear installations.
Iran’s mission to the united nations mocked Trump in positions on X, describing him as “a Has-Ben Varmonger clinging to relevance.”
Israeli military said that scores of Israeli jets had set targets in and around Tehran and in western Iran in the previous 24 hours in three waves that hit places that produced raw materials, components and manufacturing systems for missiles.
Floating Tehran
Arezou, a 31-year-old resident of Tehran, told Reuters by phone that she had made it out of town to the nearby resort by Lavasan.
“We will stay here as long as this war continues. My friend’s house in Tehran was attacked and her brother was wounded. They are civilians,” she said. “Why do we pay the price for the regime’s decision to pursue a nuclear program?”
In Israel, Sirens rang again in dusk on Wednesday on Wednesday warning of further incoming Iranian missiles. There were no immediate reports of serious injury while a motorist was injured by missile waste, Israeli medicine said.
The army later advised civilians that they could leave protected areas and signal that the threat had passed.
At Ramat Gan train station east of Tel Aviv, people lay on urban mattresses or sat in the odd camping chair, with plastic water bottles stranded.
“I feel scared, overwhelmed. Especially because I live in a densely populated area that Iran seems to be targeting, and our city has very old buildings, without shelters and safe space,” Tamar Weiss said, grabbing his four -month -old daughter.
Iran has reported at least 224 deaths in Israeli attacks, mostly civilians, but has not updated this toll for several days.

Since Friday, Iran has fired about 400 missiles against Israel, of which approx. 40 have pierced air defense that kills 24 people, all civilians, according to Israeli authorities.
Two US officials who spoke on condition of anonymity said a US military flight out of Israel was used on Wednesday to evacuate some embassy staff.

Iran has explored gearing opportunities, including blurred threats of hitting the global oil market by limiting access to the Gulf through the Hormuz Strait, the world’s most important shipping artery for oil.
Inside Iran, authorities intend to prevent panic and deficiency. Fewer images of destruction have been allowed to circulate than in the early days of the bombing, as state media showed images of explosions, fires and flattened apartments. A ban on the admission of the public has been imposed.
The Ministry of Communications said Wednesday that temporary restrictions on Internet access would be imposed to help prevent “the enemy from threatening the life and property of citizens”.
Iran’s ability to fight hard against Israel through strikes of proxy -militia’s close to Israeli borders has been limited by the devastating battles that Israel has dealt with Tehran’s regional allies – Hamas and Hezbollah – in conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon since 2023.
