The US Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Office for Civil Rights (OCR) said on Friday that it referred Main’s “non -compliance” with title IX rules to the Ministry of Justice for enforcement.
Maine has continued to defy President Donald Trump’s executive order to ban trans athletes from women’s and girls’ sports. HHS gave the state 10 days to direct its policies through a signed agreement or risk reference to the Ministry of Justice.

“Today, OCR Maines referred non -compliance with section IX to @theJusticedept for enforcement in court to continue illegally giving men the opportunity to compete against women,” the department announced in a post on X.
“HHS will continue to protect women’s sports and keep the promises of title IX for America’s women and girls.”

Maine School Administrative District 51, home to Greely High School, in which a transnry athlete built national controversy after winning a girls’ polehvell competition in February, said on Thursday that it was not complied with and instead “continues to follow state law and Maine Human Rights ACT.”
Maine Principals’ Association said in a statement that it is also “bound by the law, including Maine Human Rights Act, which our participation policy reflects.”

The situation involving the Trans at Greely High School attracted national attention after Maine Republican State Rep. Laurel Libby identified the athlete by name with a photograph in a social media post. Libby was later censored by the Maine legislation, and she has since brought a lawsuit to overturn it.
Trump signed “No Men Men In Women’s Sports” executive order in early February, which led to more athletics associations complying with it and a handful of thumb of the nose in order. The problem with the state of Maine got up at the head of a meeting of the National Governors Association.
Trump threatened to cut federal funding to the state so as not to ban biological men from girls and women’s sports.
The next day, Mills’ office responded with a statement that threatened lawsuits against the Trump administration if it detained federal funding from the state. Then, Trump and Mills sparred verbally in a broadly published argument in the White House during a top species meeting with governors.
“Don’t you want to comply with it?” Trump asked Mills.
Since then, several protests against Mills have been held outside the state capital, and the Maine University system has cooperated with the Trump administration to ensure that no trans athletes compete in women’s sports after a temporary financing break.

Last week, OCR announced that it found the Maine Department of Education, Maine Principals ‘Association and Greely High School in violation of Title IX to continue to enable Trans clutter in girls’ sports.
