President Donald Trump called for Maine Gov. Janet Mills to apologize to him over her state’s reluctance to follow his executive order to ban trans athletes from girls sports over the weekend, and Mills has now reacted without excuse.

Mills spoke with journalists in Bangor on Monday, rejecting Trump and insisting that her state’s reluctance to follow his executive order is anchored in the “rule of law.”

“My question is about the rule of law, clean and simple,” Mills said. “It’s not about transient sports; it’s about who makes the laws and who enforces the laws. I read the constitution. The Constitution says the president, CEO, must take care that the laws are faithfully performed. It does not allow him to prepare laws of the entire cloth of tweet or Instagram post or press release or executive order.”

Mills also condemned Trump for his attitude towards abortion and customs and never once referred to the president by name.

“We’ve seen policies threatening women and girls across the country,” Mills said. “If the current resident of the White House wants to protect women and girls, he must start by protecting women and teenage girls suffering from abortions and dying because they cannot get basic, life -saving healthcare services in states across the country.

“Look, the question is not about transient sports. People in Maine and across the country are waiting for a financial plan from the current resident of the White House. And so far we have not seen anyone. We have seen customs and threats of customs threaten our economy here in Maine and all over the country.”

Trump’s original demand for an apology from Mills came in a true social post on Saturday morning.

“While the state of Maine has apologized for their governor’s strong but completely incorrect, statements about men playing in women’s sports, while at the White House we have not heard from the governor herself, and she is the one that matters in such cases,” Said Trump.

“That’s why we need a full -dropped apology from the governor herself, and a statement that she will never make such an illegal challenge for the federal government again before this case can be settled. I am sure she will be able to make it quite easy. Thank you for your attention to this case and make America great again !!! DJ”

A feud between the two began on February 20, when Trump threatened to cut federal funding to the state so as not to ban trans athletes from girls and women’s sports, during a GOP meeting with governors.

The next day, Mills’ office responded with a statement that threatened lawsuits against the Trump administration if it detained federal funding from the state. Then, Trump and Mills sparred verbally in a broadly published argument in the White House during a top species meeting with governors.

“Don’t you want to comply with it?” Trump asked Mills.

“I comply with state and federal laws,” she replied before Trump said, “Well, we’re the federal law.”

“You have to do better. You have to do better because you don’t get any federal funding at all if you don’t,” he continued. “And by the way, your population, even if it is something liberal – even though I did very well there – your population does not want men who play in women’s sports are better because you otherwise do not get any federal funding.”

“See you in court,” Mills replied.

“Good, see you in court. I look forward to it. It should be a really easy. And enjoy your life after governor because I don’t think you’re in chosen politics,” Trump concluded.

The Department of Education announced a title IX study against Maine a few hours later.

Since then, several protests against Mills have been held outside the state capital, and the Maine University system has cooperated with the Trump administration to ensure that no trans athletes compete in women’s sports after a temporary financing break.

Last week, Health and Human Services’ Office of Civil Rights (OCR) officially advertised It found the Maine Department of Education, Maine Principals ‘Association and Greely High School in violation of Title IX for its continued enabling of trans -cluttering in girls’ sports.

OCR -functioning director Anthony Archeval made a statement to Pakinomist Digital warning of potential consequences for continued despite the executive order.

“What HHS is asking for Maine Department of Education, Maine Principals ‘Association (MPA) and Greely High School are simple-protecting female athletes’ rights. Girls deserve girls who are only sports without male competitors. And if Maine does not come to the table to voluntarily comply with title IX, HHS will be enforced IX to the full extent, which is permitted by law.” Archeval.

HHS ‘original message warned that the state had 10 days to correct its policies through a signed agreement or risk reference to the US Ministry of Justice for appropriate action.

The deadline to comply is this Thursday.
