Turkish President Erdogan arrives in Pakistan tomorrow on two-day visit

Turkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrives in Pakistan on February 12 (tomorrow) on a two-day official visit to invitation from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Office (FO) confirmed in a statement on Tuesday.

According to Fo-spokesman Shafqat Ali Khan, President Erdogan would be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers and senior officials, as well as business leaders.

During the two-day visit-12-13 February-Ville PM Shehbaz and President Erdogan co-chair on the 7th session in Pakistan-Turkiye Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC), the spokesman added.

“At the end of the session, a joint statement and a number of important agreements/mous are expected to be signed. The two leaders will also address a common press stakeout, ”the statement read.

It added that President Erdogan also wants bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz and President Asif Ali Zardari.

Together with Prime Minister Shehbaz, the visiting dignity will address Pakistan-Turkiye business and investment forum that brings together leading investors, businesses and business people from both sides.

It is relevant to mention here that HLSCC is the highest decision forum that provides strategic direction to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.

There are a number of joint standing committees (JSCs) under HLSCC covering sectors including; Trade, investment, bank, finance, culture, tourism, energy, defense, agriculture, transport, communication, IT, health, science and technology and education.

So far, six sessions have been held in HLSCC, the Fo spokesman said, adding that the last session was held in Islamabad on 13-14. February 2020.

Pakistan and Turkiye are bound by historical, brotherly and long -term ties. The spokesman said the visit of the Turkish president and the holding of the 7th session in HLSCC would serve to elaborate on the fraternal connections further and improve multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
