Two people were arrested in connection with the discovery of a child’s body in an underground water tank in North Karachi’s Baitul Naeem housing complex.

The body of the missing child, identified as Sarm, was found in the water tank late last night after a search operation was conducted by the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC), Express News reported.

The operation lasted until the early hours of the morning, involving the police, the Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) and other officials.

During the operation, two suspicious persons were detained for questioning.

According to the police, these people were in possession of keys to a locked apartment in the complex.

Authorities also recovered a blanket during the operation, which will be sent to the forensics lab for further analysis.

Samples collected from the apartment will also be tested. The police are awaiting the final autopsy report of the child to clarify the cause of death, which will guide further investigations.

Police sources said DNA samples from the detained suspects and the child will be sent to the University of Karachi’s forensic laboratory for chemical analysis today.

The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities are working to reach a conclusion as soon as possible.

A few days ago, the body of a seven-year-old boy who had been missing for 11 days was found in an underground water tank near his home in Karachi’s North Karachi area, police said on Saturday.

The child, identified as Sarim, was last seen almost two weeks ago, prompting extensive search efforts by police and family members, Express News reported.

His body was recovered from a water tank with a makeshift cardboard cover, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.

Police have launched an investigation to determine whether Sarim fell into the tank by accident or foul play.

Residents in the neighborhood expressed shock and said police had checked the tank twice during the search but could find no sign of the child. They believe his body may have remained submerged and surfaced over time.

Authorities said there were no initial signs of assault or foul play, but an autopsy will be conducted at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to determine the cause of death.

Sarim’s mother collapsed in grief upon seeing her son’s body as the community mourned the loss of the young boy.

Last week it was reported that the police have found no clue to the whereabouts of a child who went missing from North Karachi on January 7.

Seven-year-old Sarim went missing from the Bilal Colony police jurisdiction. Sarim, a student at Madrasah Al Quran, went to his seminar on January 7 but never returned.

His father, Parvez, went to the madrassa and asked about his son. The administration said that his son had gone home at 3:40 p.m.

Parvez was on his way back from the madrassa when he suddenly spotted Sarim’s gloves lying on the stairs inside the mosque.
