Two charges staff at Polio Customs Martyrated

Quetta:

Two tax staff were martyrated in Balochistan’s Mastung district on Wednesday when unidentified guns attacked a security team guarding a polio vaccination drive – the other such event since the nationwide campaign began this week.

The incident, which was considered an attempt to undermine Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to eradicate polio, has drawn strong condemnation from federal and provincial authorities.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the terrorist attack on the strongest terms and promised to keep them in charge.

“Terrorists who harm innocent civilians and security staff are enemies of humanity and will be punished,” he said.

He confirmed that such acts of violence would not shake Pakistan’s willingness to wipe out polio. “The government remains steadfast in its commitment to eliminating the disease. The polio campaign continues with full national determination,” he said.

The prime minister also appealed to parents and urged them not to lose the heart and ensure that their children get life-saving polio drops to protect their future.

Main Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti also expressed deep grief over the attack and called it a feiging act of terror.
