Two PC makers warn of price hikes on new computers and suggest Black Friday deals could be your last chance.

  • Two major boutique PC makers are warning of memory-driven price increases
  • Maingear’s CEO tells us to consider buying now as RAM ‘prices will continue to rise’
  • CyberPowerPC says prices of its gaming PCs will rise from December 7 due to RAM price hikes

If you want more proof that Black Friday might be the best time to buy a new PC, we’ve just been treated to another few gems (among other recent warnings).

It’s not just about new PCs, but specifically that the price of memory is rising sharply – so system RAM is now suddenly very expensive, as is storage (another kind of memory, of course). The combined increase in the price of RAM and SSDs means that pressure is put on the price of new desktop computers with these components inside. (GPUs are also another casualty here, as these boards use video RAM, exacerbating the difficulties for PC manufacturers).
