Peshawar:

Two polio workers were abducted by armed attacks in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank District on Monday during an ongoing anti-police vaccination campaign.

According to police, the victims were identified as Sifatullah (Comnet staff) and Hizbullah, a volunteer polio worker. They performed their duties when the incident took place in the tribe subdivision of Jandola.

The district administration condemned the abduction and a case has been recorded against unknown perpetrators. A search operation has been launched to find and safely recover the kidnapped workers.

The abduction and attacks on polio workers are serious concerns, especially in the tribal areas of Pakistan. Polio workers and their safety shirts have often been targeted, especially in KP and Balochistan.
