Ubisoft has announced Co-Cos for his new Tencent-funded subsidiary, Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot, son of the publisher’s current CEO, Yves Guillemot.
The company appointed Co-CEOS in a new blog post stating that the subsidiary’s new structure will be dedicated to bringing some of the publisher’s greatest franchises, such as Assassin’s CreedAt Far Cryand Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six“To their full potential.”
“With complementary backgrounds, Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot bring their strong industrial expertise, deep knowledge of the Ubisoft ecosystem and a shared culture for innovation to the role,” Ubisoft said.
Derennes founded Ubisoft’s Montreal Studio in 1997 and most recently served as CEO of the North American region, while Guillemot began his career in Owlient in 2014, a study acquired by Ubisoft and later returned to Ubisoft in 2025 to participate in his transformation committee.
“With this new subsidiary, we want to build on the strong foundation of creating the right environment for the teams working on Assassin’s CreedAt Far Cryand Rainbow six To take the creative and technical risks needed to make excellent games, ”Guillemot said.
“Our focus is on developing Ubisoft’s operating model to bring more focus, more autonomy and more accountability to the teams so they can remain closely matched to our players. Decision production will be faster and it will also be easier to turn when we need to change the course.”
Guillemot emphasized that the idea is not to start from scratch, but to “develop our organization and ways of working to get back on the road to success”.
Derennes repeated Guillemot’s previous mood and said it is their long-term goals with the subsidiary to “grow these iconic brands-they remain loyal to their DNA-to experiences that are constantly enriching and surprising to our players.”
In a separate interview with Variety after the message, Charlie Guillemot was asked to tackle nepotism worries now that he is a co-ceo for a subsidiary under his father’s company.
“I totally understand where it comes from and I want to be aware of it. Yes, I’m the son of Yves,” he said. “It’s not something I’m hiding for. But my appointment is not just about family ties; it’s about what Ubisoft needs in this moment.”
He continued: “I’ve spent the last decade building experience both inside and outside Ubisoft, leading teams, managing brands and navigating changes in a fast -moving industry. I also made the conscious choice to go away when it made sense, to learn and grow elsewhere.
“What matters now is not my name, it is the work that is ahead of us. Ubisoft is in a central moment. What is expected of me is to help push the business forward by bringing energy, focus and by trusting the incredible expertise that already exists across the teams. I see myself as someone here to contribute, support and help create the right relationships that are able to do their best work.”
