- The British Government is investing in cyber defense and capacities
- Investing of 1 billion pounds includes a new cyber and electromagnetic command
- “Digital Targeting Web” seems to strengthen cyber defense and national security
The British government has announced plans to invest over £ 1 billion in a new groundbreaking “Digitally targeting web” to strengthen cyber defense and national security.
Alongside this, a new cyber and electromagnetic command will aim to “put Britain at the forefront of cyber operations,” with improved targeting capabilities and digital defense.
The investments will look at the “spearhead Battlefield gifts” by applying experience from Ukraine on the UK’s weapon systems, enabling faster and more accurate battlefield decisions and better connected military weapons systems.
Digital capabilities
Cyber security and defense are an important priority for this administration, where Prime Minister Kier Stormer undertakes an increase in defense spending to 2.5% of GDP, “recognizes the critical significance of military emergency preparedness in an era with increased global uncertainty.”
By 2024, the United Kingdom announced the creation of a laboratory dedicated to security research and invited its allies to collaborate to combat the “new AI weapon” – investing millions to improve cyber security functions.
The new command wants to give the British military the upper hand over the course of military advantage by breaking down command and control, trimming signals to missiles or drones and, for example, capturing enemy communication.
The government warns that cyber attacks threaten the basis of the economy and daily life, and with critical infrastructure that maintains 13 cyber attacks per year. Second, the dangers are definitely visible.
“The hard -fought lessons from Putin’s illegal war in Ukraine leave us under no illusions that future conflicts will be won through forces better connected, better equipped and innovated faster than their opponents,” warns defense secretary John Healey.
“We will give our armed forces the opportunity to trade with speeds that have never been seen before – connecting ships, aircraft, tanks and operators so that they can share important information immediately and hit longer and faster.”
