A man who says he lost $ 784 million worth of Bitcoin (BTC) at a landfill, talking to investors about potentially buying the land, the BBC reported Monday.

“I’ve recently discussed this opportunity with investment partners and it’s a lot on the table,” James Howells said, according to the BBC.

Howells said his ex-boyfriend mistakenly threw a hard drive containing 8,000 bitcoin at the landfill at Newport’s Dokker in 2013. In the last decade, he has made requests to Newport Council to try to pick it up and said he was largely ignored . Newport Council refused to comment, the BBC said.

He tried to sue the Council for £ 495 million ($ 646 million), the highest valuation of Bitcoin in early 2024, but his case was dismissed by the judge in January. The authority plans to close the site in the coming financial year and is authorized to build a solar energy operation on Earth.
