Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated sharply after a series of Indian missile attacks on Pakistani territory.
According to Director-General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) LT Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Indian forces performed air strikes in six locations inside Pakistan, including Kotli, Bahawalpur, Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Murideke.
In a media briefing held early Wednesday, DG ISPR confirmed that eight civilians were killed and 33 others wounded in the attacks. He said Pakistan’s armed forces responded with a strong and coordinated military operation in retaliation.
Security sources reported that Pakistan was pushing five Indian aircraft down during the confrontation. The Indian jets were allegedly performed strikes on targets inside Pakistan while operating from the Indian airspace. The sources added that all Pakistani aircraft involved in the answer returned safely and were fully accounted for.
India’s air strikes came in the midst of tension between the two nuclear armed neighbors after the attack in the Pahagam area of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), resulting in several losses. India accused Pakistan of the attack without presenting evidence – an accusation Islamabad has decided.
