Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) Chairman Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has said that unity, dialogue and justice are the foundations of a strong and peaceful Pakistan. Addressing a conference of scholars and clerics in Faisalabad on Sunday, the PUC chairman said that Pakistan’s armed forces and leadership are fully capable of protecting the country’s sovereignty and stability.
He said that peace and harmony can only be ensured by strengthening the institutions and promoting justice-based systems. Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said that Pakistan has made great sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and will continue efforts for regional peace.
The PUC chairman urged neighboring Afghanistan to play a constructive role in ensuring stability and preventing elements that threaten peace. Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have deteriorated sharply in recent months.
