Islamabad:
Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) hosted a prestigious book launch ceremony for Urdu translation of Russian short stories entitled ‘Roos Ki Muntakhib Kahanian’ Tuesday.
The book has recently been published by the Pakistan Academy of Letters. The book launch was a significant milestone in promoting literary exchange and cultural ties between Pakistan and Russia.
The ceremony was led by the prominent poet and scholars iftikhar Arif. While the Russian Federation’s ambassador to Pakistan, Albert Khorev, was the main guest.
Chairman, Dr. Najeba Arif, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the importance of literary diplomacy and cultural dialogue. She expressed PAL’s obligation to promote global literature in Pakistani languages and said that translations act as bridges connecting readers across borders.
She also suggested that an anthology of Pakistani short stories be translated into Russian language and being published by the Academy’s counterpart in Russia.
In his remarks, Ambassador Albert Khorev praised the initiative and emphasized the role of literature in the construction of mutual understanding between nations.
