The US State Department published a memorandum on its website on Friday asking fellow journalists to share outgoing US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome’s op-ed published in Express Pakinomist and Daily Express prior to his departure from the country.
The announcement reads as follows:
Ahead of Ambassador Blome’s departure from Pakistan this weekend, you can find below the text of a farewell statement by Ambassador Blome, as published today in Daily Express and Express Pakinomist. The Urdu translation follows the English text.
“Since arriving in Pakistan in May 2022 as the United States Ambassador, my focus has been to strengthen and redefine the relationship between the United States and Pakistan, firmly rooted in areas of mutual interest and cooperation on shared global challenges.
It was time to reframe the relationship—not as an Afghanistan-Pakistan or India-Pakistan lens, but as a deep and enduring partnership between the United States and Pakistan. Over the past two and a half years, we have expanded and deepened this partnership, making important progress in areas that matter most to Pakistanis: jobs, affordable energy, clean water, health and education.”
