US delegation to visit Islamabad for conversations about minerals and trade

An American delegation, led by Eric Meyer, the senior official surveillance of the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs in the Ministry of State, will visit Islamabad from 8 to 10 April 2025.

The visit aims to promote US interests in the critical mineral sector at Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum (PMIF25), organized by Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) in collaboration with Pakistan’s government.

The forum to take place on 8-9. April at the Jinnah Convention Center in Islamabad, will serve as a key platform for global stakeholders to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s new mineral sector. It is expected to highlight the country’s enormous mineral potential.

During his journey, Meyer will meet Senior Pakistani officials to promote financial ties and explore opportunities for US companies to invest in Pakistan’s mineral -rich landscape.

In addition to financial discussions, Meyer is also expected to meet with senior officials to strengthen the ongoing collaboration on terrorism.In particular, Shehbaz Sharif-led government plans to present the country’s estimated 600,000 square miles of mineral development zones to potential partners.

With 92 well -known minerals and 52 commercially extracted, Pakistan’s mining sector supports over 5,000 operational mines, 50,000 SMEs and employs directly 300,000 workers.

The visit follows President Donald Trump’s introduction of a 29% mutual duty on goods imported from Pakistan in addition to duties on goods from different countries.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed two special bodies to tackle the question and develop a political response.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said a delegation will travel to Washington to push Pakistan’s case.
