The United States has issued a new journey advice for Pakistan, which calls on US citizens to consider traveling to the country due to ongoing security risks, including terrorism and the potential of armed conflict.
In a statement, the US Secretary of State warned that violent extremist groups continue to plan attacks, especially in the provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The counseling emphasized that terrorists can strike with little or no warning, targeting different locations such as transport nodes, malls, military installations, airports, universities and worship sites.
The advisory also stated that the US government staff assigned to Pakistan is forbidden to attend most major gatherings due to the increased risks.
While noticing that larger cities like Islamabad have more robust security infrastructure, it warned that Pakistan’s security situation remains fluid, with conditions that potentially change rapidly.
The warning comes in the midst of ongoing discussions in the United States about potential travel restrictions.
Sources revealed to Reuters that a new travel ban reviewed by the Trump administration could soon prevent individuals in Pakistan and Afghanistan from entering the United States. This follows a broader assessment of the countries’ security and vetting procedures.
In addition, about 200,000 Afghans are approved for resettlement of us or with pending visa applications, uncertainty. Many are stranded in Pakistan with refugees from 90 other countries, following President Trump’s January 20-order, introducing a 90-day freezer on refugee recordings and foreign assistance that funds their transport.
