New figures have claimed that US PC shipments allegedly fell in the second quarter of 2025 when the market worked through warehouse built earlier this year.
Canaly’s reported shipments (excluding tablets) of 18.6 million units, which has dropped 1.4% from the previous year.
The slowdown was widely expected and came when suppliers cleared the stay they had accumulated to avoid potential customs exposure – and although the quarter collected in demand demand, the commercial sector grew 4%, which equalized a soft consumer segment.
Slow growth in front
Analysts now predict shipments from 2025 and 2026 to grow approx. 3% annually, with the move to Windows 11 continues to run upgrades.
Microsoft and its PC partners intensify additional campaigns ahead of Windows 10’s end-of-support in October 2025, which emphasizes the importance of moving to systems that can handle new workloads including AI.
“AI admission in the commercial sector has had a strong success in the United States,” said Greg Davis, analyst at Canalys.
“According to the US census business trends and Outlook study, business recording of AI has more than doubled in the last two years and seen a 50% increase in use alone. Devices could bring.”
However, Davis added that many consumers are still hesitating.
“Between sustained inflation and weak job reports in recent months, more consumers exhibit cautious expenses, and premium electronics are not prioritized as much as essential as food and energy costs. Despite the nearby Windows 10-end-of-supporting and increased attention, consumers in the US are more willing to wait until their PCs have Hardware-Slicks. ”
Apple grew fastest among major suppliers in the 2nd quarter and rose 15.5% year by year, while Lenovo rose 5.1%. HP and Dell saw both falls and fell 4.8% and 3.5% respectively. Acer shippings dropped more sharply by 10.5%.
Canalys predicts that commercial shipments continue to rise in 2026, while consumers’ demand may fluctuate more sharply depending on the economy.
