The US Embassy in Islamabad issued a travel advice on Wednesday with reference to Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) “threats to Faisal Mosque, in Islamabad”.
“The US Embassy Regional Security Office has banned the US employee trip to the Faisal Mosque area so far,” the embassy said in a statement.
The security alarm specifically mentions the potential risk of a terrorist attack and advises US citizens to avoid the location.
In addition to the travel warning, the embassy urged both its staff and American citizens to remain vigilant over their personal security. It recommended to monitor local media for updates and ensure that they carry identification documents while traveling.
The US Embassy has also provided a special contact number to US citizens in the event of an emergency.
