- Strava has been updated with new features for paying subscribers
- It includes AI-driven routes and stubborn locations
- The app’s Leaderboards have also been cleaned of cheating
If you are a fitness fanatic, you’ve probably heard of Strava. The health tracking app is popular with athletes and enthusiasts, and it has just been updated with a number of new features for subscribers.
According to a blog post on the Strava site, they provide new features “Mix on the go flexibility with community-driven reliability”, which means the app provides subscribers “smarter, community-driven tools to explore and compete with confidence.”
So what do you actually get with the update? First, there is a new route experience. Strava says this consists of “updated AI-run routes” that can offer suggestions based on the app’s global heat. This means more flexible and reliable options based on user contributions claims the company.
From June, points of interest can be tappbar, and this can allow you to find out more information about that location (such as an eatery or beauty place). It also means that you can create a route that either goes directly to the point of interest or incorporates it along the path, and this will show data such as height and estimate arrival time.
Then from July, subscribers will be able to drop a pin on a card in Strava and create an “effective, activity -specific route from A to B.”
Leaderboard Fairness
In addition to these new features, Strava says it is also taking steps to make sure that Leaderboard times have been achieved fairly. To this end, the app’s machine learning model has been updated to work up the 10 most popular spots on the trip and run leaderboards. This has resulted in the removal of 4.45 million activities that were either filed for the wrong sport type or were registered in vehicles. Strava says this means that Leaderboards are now “reflecting true performances.”
Strava also adds several live segments by twice the number compared to the past. You can access these segments, whether you are a subscriber or not, but paid members get a few added features here, including additional screens with comparison metration.
If you love Strava and use it every time you go out on a race or a trip, these updates may have gained your interest. Just make sure to take one of the best fitness trackers with you the next time you hit the road.
