- Lynx -founder described Valve Deckard as “quite amazing”
- They did not shared any specific details but said they are sharing Valve’s suppliers
- Other leaks have teased an impressive but PERET QUEST 3 -RIV
While Google is doing a fuss about the Android XR, Meta continues its Meta Quest 3 overlord, and Apple apparently sees its vision pro affordable plans for Bono, Valve has quietly worked away in the background of its next headset – and it is already described as “quite amazing.”
It is according to Stan Larroque – the founder of Lynx who created the Forever Lynx R1 headset, which I dampened back in 2023 – which said on social media that “the design of Valve next HMD is quite amazing!”
He did not elaborate on what makes Deckard particularly neat and said he would be “damned” if any leaked details of Lynx’s next XR device, but at least he did the hint of why he knows the valve unit.
In a follow-up post, he said, “The HMD-producing world is so small, we share all the same suppliers for some components.”
I would be just as mad if Lynx Nextgen ID was leaked so I won’t share anymore. I’m just excited for good new XR HMDs. The HMD making world is so small, we share all the same suppliers for some components.May 17, 2025
VALVES VR -HEADSET 2.0
While leaks must be taken with a pinch of salt if the valve shares design information with suppliers and purchases of parts for Deckard, this suggests that the unit can approach (or already in) production and that an official reveal could approach.
This is supported by April requirements that Valve has received VR -Headset -Parts and Machines to potentially start producing a kind of headset in the United States -probably to dodge some of the ongoing rates imposed on imports. Again, a sign that Deckard is almost ready to fall.
When that happens, other leaks have given us some details that Larroque was not eager to reveal.
E.g. Was a valve -resistant concept an independent design (rather than bound) and allegedly offered 2K LCD panels to its display setup and was powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 – the same chipset as Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (via Upload VR).
This chipset would be newer than Snapdragon XR 2 Gen 2 in other modern headsets like Meta Quest 3, though not a dedicated XR chipset, so it feels likely that another processor will have in the last deckard -design (maybe a XR2 Gen 3).
The headset also seems to rely on controllers (codename ROY), similar to Meta Quest 3’s handset (via uploadvr).
Just expect it to be expensive. A jerky bundle for the new Valve Deckard VR Headset will reportedly cost $ 1,200, which includes some games as well as two controllers.
Hopefully, Valve doesn’t keep us in the dark about Deckard for much longer – maybe it’s waiting for the Android XR hype around Google I/O to die down before we steal the limelight – but we’ll have to wait and see.
