- Valve is reportedly launching a VR -headset called the Dampramme soon
- Analysts have said that the mysterious headset has gone into mass production
- Leaked specifications tease a headset more powerful than Meta Quest 3
While there are a lot of humming about the (probable) incoming Samsung Moohan -headset -its first and first in general, Android XR device that is detached on the public -there is another VR Headset that we can soon see from another well -known tech face: Valve.
The so -called Dampramme has been very teased by leaks and speculation just like Samsung’s Moohan. It was even widely believed that it would have launched at an event in September, which was never realized (again as Moohan) and is also believed to land at some point before the end of 2025.
Unlike Samsung’s headset, however, Valve has been much more tight lipped on this device, but analyst companies and leaks have given us a few details.
The first is a predicted release date for this year in which the latest reports (via uploadvr) say the headset has entered mass production. This follows a trademark filing last month for a device called ‘Steam Frame’ – with the valve usually only archiving trademarks soon before a product launch.
As for the device itself, what we know is based on Valve’s own comments in an interview with the test. VR was brought up under the chat and valve hardware engineer Yazan Aldehayyat and product designer Lawrence Yang suggested that lessons from the steam deck would be used for future hardware efforts – which strongly suggests a wireless rather than bound approach to the dam.
This is further supported by leaked specifications from unfortunately Bradley (a generally reliable source of VR leaks) that the headset will boast of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset -as it would only need if it was an independent device.
He says this chipset would have a GPU that is a generation newer than what the XR2 Gen 2 boasts, suggesting that Valves headset will have at least a small technical edge over the Meta Quest 3.
I hope Edge was more than small as according to Valve Leakage Gabe -Follower The device will cost $ 1,200 (about £ 900 / AU $ 1,850), which is over twice the price of a Meta Quest 3.
We will have to wait and see which valve shows when it’s ready to advertise its next hardware. Although it does not land this page of 2026, several signs of an impending framework are pointing reveal and launch, so we keep an eye on any type of teaser or message from the valve.
When or if it has something to share we will be sure to tell you.
