Vawda blasts FBR over ‘Mala Fide Raids’

When he bursts the tax body’s alleged abuse of funds and lavish car purchases, Senator Faisal Vawda has claimed that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has led unprecedented attacks on certain engine producers to hide the true scandal.

When he spoke in the Senate on Wednesday, Vawda FBR’s actions threw the actions of the FBR and said not only attacks were made, but search options were also quickly issued.

“Was there found drugs or weapons there? Was there human trafficking, or were there anti-Pakistan activities that took place?” He asked.

He also claimed that once there were documents about these raids that came into his possession, efforts were made to cover the case by carrying out further attacks elsewhere.

When he expressed frustration over practice, he said that was the reason why individuals refrain from standing up against such activities, but instead become part of the mafia. “They are ‘pristine’, they carry out attacks, revenge and create false cases.”

He also claimed that, despite his responsibility for generating revenue, FBR did not meet his target of RS384 billion in taxes. He noted that a summary was approved by the cabinet, which included hefty bonuses for FBR employees – ranging from four bonuses for Category 1 staff to two bonuses for category three employees – but this section was ignored by the cabinet.

“The implementation of this summary and the distribution of bonuses will start soon, and the national treasury will be looted through these bonuses,” Vawda warned.
