Islamabad:
The government is preparing for further controlled violations along the Multan-Sukkur Motorway (M-5) to control flooding water threatening Jalalpur Pirwala and the surrounding areas, with several agencies working in coordination.
This was revealed during a special meeting on Thursday chairman of the Federal Minister of Communication Abdul Aleem Khan and participated by Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, provincial ministers, federal communications secretary, NHA chairman, Commissioner Multan and High -ranking Officers of Nespa, Ivaming Department, Sui Gas and Water Services.
Officials reported that flooding water has damaged M-5 on five points and flooding villages in Multan, Lodhran and Bahawalpur districts, including Phagal Marhi, Hayatpur, Jhanmp, Soiwala and Muradpur.
Deluge has also reached UCH SHARIF and submerged settlements nearby such as Jhangra and Basti Mir Chakar -Crust. Serious injury forced the closure of the Multan-Such Sharif section on the highway, with redirections in place until water goes back and repairs are completed. NHA Teams works around the clock to restore traffic flow, especially near Jalalpur Pirwala. A technical committee was formed to monitor the situation continuously and recommend timely measures.
With the meeting, Minister Aleem Khan said that flooding water had spread up to 20 kilometers on both sides of the highway. “Breaking the highway was not an easy decision, but to protect the life and property of citizens,” he said.
He emphasized that the protection of Jalalpur Pirwala City remains the greatest priority, where NHA works in close coordination with the Punjab government. “No matter what decision the Punjab government is taking, NHA and other institutions will fully support it,” he added.
