Before we get ahead of ourselves, here’s everything we know so far about it Virgin River season 7 from confirmed cast, predicted release date, plot rumours, news and more.
Virgin River Season 7: Is There a Release Date?
Virgin River Season 7 is definitely coming, we just don’t know when quite yet, but there have been some hints. In October 2024, the cast confirmed that the show was returning for another season with “more love, drama and small-town charm to come.”
And filming began in March 2025 with a few behind-the-scenes snaps shared on the show’s Instagram, and after an Instagram post by Benjamin Hollingsworth, aka Brady, it was confirmed that filming officially wrapped in June.
But when it comes to a release date, the biggest hint we’ve gotten so far comes from Andrea Breckenridge (Mel Monroe herself), when she spoke to Entertainment Weekly in mid-October: “There’s a lot going on this year for Netflix. The finale of Stranger Things as a series becomes a big thing.
“If I was an intelligent person, I would guess that I wouldn’t roll Virgin River until the new year.” 2026, then, apparently.
Virgin River Season 7: Has A Trailer Been Released?
As with most returning Netflix shows, is Virgin River the season 7 trailer will undoubtedly drop about a month before it’s released on the streamer.
Since it’s looking like early 2026 now, although this hasn’t been confirmed, I’d imagine a trailer won’t drop until late 2025, or at best early 2026. I’ll keep my eyes open and update here as soon as it arrives.
Virgin River Season 7: Cast Confirmed
Thanks to Tudum, we have a confirmed cast list Virgin River season 7, as well as two new characters joining the show:
- Alexandra Breckenridge as Melinda Monroe
- Martin Henderson as Jack Sheridan
- Tim Matheson as Vernon Mullins
- Annette O’Toole as Hope McCrea
- Colin Lawrence as John ‘Preacher’ Middleton
- Benjamin Hollingsworth as Dan Brady
- Zibby Allen as Brie Sheridan
- Sarah Dugdale as Lizzie
- Marco Grazzini as Mike
- Kai Bradbury as Denny Cutler
- Kandyse McClure as Kaia
- Sara Canning as Victoria
- Cody Kearsley as Clay
When it comes to the new additions that come along Virgin River season 7, luckily there is quite a bit of information about their roles.
According to Tudum, Sara Canning joins as “ex-cop Victoria, who was shot in the line of duty and now works for the state medical board as an investigator. Victoria comes to Virgin River to look into Doc’s practice, but runs into a friend she wouldn’t mind catching up with… or maybe even pursuing something more.”
While Cody Kearsley joins as “tough, athletic Clay. The kind of guy who gets noticed when he walks into a room, Clay has experience working the rodeo ring. He grew up in foster care with his younger sister, who he hasn’t seen since he was a teenager. He’s been looking for her ever since.”
While Tudum’s roster doesn’t include everyone we’d expect to see, like Teryl Rothery, who plays Muriel, we’re sure there will be room for her and many more returning cast members in Virgin River season 7.
Who won’t be returning though, at least as a series regular, is Muriel’s ex-lover, Dr. Cameron (Mark Ghanim). Speaking to TVLine, showrunner Patrick Sean Smith confirmed, “He’ll always be a part of the world and I’d love to see his character back, but unfortunately he won’t be a series regular in Season 7.”
Virgin River Season 7: Story Synopsis and Rumors
Full spoilers for Virgin River Seasons 1-6 follow.
Virgin River Season 6 saw Mel and Jack finally tie the knot, Preacher cleared of all charges, and a shock finale that ended with a gasp. And when it comes to Season 7, Smith told Tudum, “I think we’re only just starting to see Mel and Jack work as a married couple, which is exciting.
Adding that Season 7 will: “explore the honeymoon phase for them as they build their lives on the farm, which can come with its own obstacles.”
It’s no secret that Mel and Jack have faced turmoil, including the devastating loss of their baby in Season 5, but one thing’s for sure when it comes to the couple, they’re built to last. Smith says: “I can’t imagine creating a scenario where you think Mel and Jack are going to break up.
“It forces you to dig a little bit deeper into, well, what other issues might they have in their relationship? Especially when you want to hold it through the romantic lens. I think Alex and Martin play all of these [moments so well]it’s just resting on emotional stakes as opposed to ‘will they, won’t they’.
Of course, Mel and Jack aren’t the only lovebirds in Virgin River, and small-town romances have been prevalent throughout the show. There’s Hope and Doc, Preacher and Kaia, and Lizzie and Denny, who are expecting their first child, all confirmed to return for Season 7.
But there was one more cliffhanger Virgin River the season 6 finale that fans are waiting to be talked about. When Jack went to Charmaine’s to check on her and the twins fathered by career criminal Calvin, he arrives to a seemingly empty house, but when he goes to check on the kids, he gasps. And that’s the end of season 6.
Although Tudum hasn’t confirmed the return of Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley), it looks like we’ll get some answers, as Breckenridge told EW, “I know. [what makes him gasp]. But I can’t tell you. It’s too big. I couldn’t possibly.” And now I will Virgin River season 7 now more than ever.
But that’s not the only drama to emerge from the Season 6 finale, with Breckenridge explaining, “My favorite cliffhanger was when Mike tells Brie that he knows she slept with Brady. I was like, ‘What? He knows she slept with someone else and he still wants to marry her. What’s that all about?'”
Of course, there’s also Mel and Jack’s desire to have a child together, and it looks like the couple could consider adoption, especially considering Marley (Rachel Drance) told Mel she wanted her to have her baby in Season 6.
And Breckenridge says Season 6 isn’t the end of it: “The story of Marley and the baby doesn’t go away in Season 7. It’s pretty heavily featured. I can’t tell you what happens to it, but I can tell you it’s not going away. It’s still there, and it’s something me and Jack have to navigate through. It brings things, of course.”
Will there be more seasons of Virgin River?
good news, Virgin River season 8 has already been confirmed with Smith telling Tudum, “On behalf of myself and the whole Virgin River family, we are forever grateful to Netflix and fans for allowing us to continue this journey with these beloved characters.”
It is an early renewal given Virgin River season 7 doesn’t even have a release date, and the news makes the series Netflix’s longest-running current original scripted series, as well as the longest-running English-language drama series.
The people will Virgin River and apparently they will get it!
