- Vodafone -employees have been reminded of being in office 8 days a month
- Business policy has been in place since the pandemic, but enforcement is ramped up
- Many other technology companies have removed flexible or hybrid work policies
Vodafone employees have been warned must spend at least 8 days a month in the office, or are faced with missing out on bonuses and other perks.
Workers were sent a “Hybrid working on the Vodafone” note, seen by the register, who outlined the policy and told the staff that they could face disciplinary actions if these guidelines are not followed.
Vodafone’s policy still allows workers some flexibility as employees are expected to be in the office 2-3 times a week, but can work from home on the remaining days – and workers are advised to participate in team days to “help members form a pattern”.
Hybrid policies
“Employees who do not comply with our hybrid work policy at the end of the 1st quarter may be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with the policy,” the note said.
“Continued non -compliance with expectations for participation may result in a final written warning, which would mean that individuals do not meet the minimum benefit standards and would therefore not be eligible for a bonus in 2026 or in the following years when a final warning is given.”
Vodafone transferred a statement and confirmed that the memo was a reinforcement of an existing policy.
“Vodafones hybrid labor policy has been in place since 2021, when all employees are expected to be in the office 2-3 times a week or at least 8 days a month,” the company said. “This provides flexibility to the staff and for them to take advantage of collaborative cooperation.”
Vodafone is not the first to enforce a policy like this, where companies like Dell choose a step further and end the hybrid work completely, which sets orders at full -time returns to the office.
This despite the fact that studies have shown that almost all of us are much more productive when we work from home, with 50% of managers introducing flexible working methods and 82% plan to continue this.
Companies like Amazon enforce return to office orders despite almost all staff who are dissatisfied with the policy, with 73% of employees who responded caused them to consider moving jobs.
