- Walmart in the US suddenly gets more RTX 4000 stock
- This could be an attempt to offer alternatives to hard-to-find RTX 5000 models
- You may need to shop the facts for the best RTX 4000 discounts
In case you hadn’t noticed, the price of RTX 5000 GPUs has been creeping up, and in some cases massively, since the start of 2026. To ease such problems, a certain US retailer is stocking up on alternatives to these current, expensive Nvidia graphics cards.
Tom’s Hardware is keeping a close eye on GPU prices in the US, and our sister site has made an interesting discovery that there has been a ‘big influx’ of RTX 4000 models at Walmart.
While these are last-generation graphics cards, they’re hardly obsolete, and given the price tags on some of these older products, they could make attractive alternatives to Nvidia’s current-generation GPUs.

Walmart is beefing up its stock of models from the RTX 4060 all the way up to the RTX 4080 Super, we’re told.
Tom’s Hardware is also highlighting some significant overnight price drops this week – but the bad news is that the particularly juicy discounts have already sold out now.
There was an RTX 4080 Super for $1,019, for example, just a tad above its original MSRP of $999 in the US, but it’s no longer available. (This graphics card dropped about $480 from its high price earlier this week).
Another example was a $579 RTX 4070 Super model, a GPU that had dropped over $300 this week, but none of that is left now either. (You can still keep an eye on the listing to see if stock returns).
Of the featured deals that are still in stock, you can grab an RTX 4070 Ti for $740, which is $60 off MSRP (and that was at the suggested retail price earlier this week). The discounts on RTX 4060 models were either non-existent or not good to begin with, in which case you’re definitely better off getting an RTX 5060 Ti (which Walmart currently stocks for $380, but of course it’s the 8GB model).
Analysis: stock compensations
It’s possible to find a decent enough deal on last-gen Nvidia graphics cards, and the RTX 4070 Super at $579 deal is tempting and clearly better value than an RTX 5060 Ti (8GB) dollar-for-dollar.
There’s a twist that just happened, though, as the RTX 5070 is now in stock for $599 at Walmart, which is about 10% above MSRP. In today’s climate, that’s a decent price for this mid-range. However, stock is low at the time of writing, so it may not last. While there isn’t much difference in performance between the RTX 4070 Super and the vanilla RTX 5070, keep in mind that the latter benefits from DLSS 4.5.
This is the fast-moving GPU world we live in now, with most of Walmart’s RTX 5070 stock being supplied by third-party marketplace sellers (of varying reputation). So it’s not surprising that the US retailer is apparently resorting to getting last-gen Lovelace GPUs. presumably with the struggle to secure the supply of RTX 5000 models.
Will we see more RTX 4000 GPUs appear over the coming months, especially if issues surrounding Nvidia RTX 5000 supply worsen? I wouldn’t rule out that possibility.
