Islamabad:
The head of a Senate Panel has noticed that some audit parases with regard to Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) have been pending since 1985, while the Ministry of Water and Power has no items in some cases.
The Senate’s Standing Committee on Water Resources met on Thursday under the presidency of Senator Shahadat Awan to receive a briefing on the investigations conducted by the Ministry on the recommendations of the Departmental Accounts Committee (DAC) and Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in the Paras of WAPDA.
WAPDA officials informed the committee that 56 studies were conducted on the recommendations from PAC, 43 of which are completed, 10 are underway and the remaining three are examined by the National Accountability Bureau.
They said that 381 inquiries were initiated according to the recommendations of DAC, 308 of which is completed and 67 is pending.
Senator Shahadat Awan noted that 187 audit paras have been pending.
