The Warframe Dev Studio Digital Extremes is well known for its long, funny and informative devstreams at this time – in fact, you could claim that they are a big part of the game’s success as it is comfortable to see a group of devs that really care about their games Collects to openly discuss its future, addressing thoughts and concerns from players and teasing cool new things.
Well, we just had the first Devstream in 2025, and oh boy, it was a doozy. I usually look intensely during these live-streamed events, but this one made me laugh actually on my screen; Hell I would go so far as to say that Warframe‘s Waste Director Rebecca Ford somehow looked directly into my brain to gather the manuscript for the team’s 184. Devstream because this one felt pretty specific curated for me and the things I love the most.
First up? David Bowie, of course. Yes, the next warframe to be added to the game – the 60. Unique playable frame – is temple (not ‘tempo’, as some people seemingly fuzzy under the stream), an extremely funky glam -rock -styled character directly inspired by David Bowie and appropriately uses a guitar as their signature weapons. Oh, and they are also canonical non-binary, which made me (a queer mess of a human being) pretty happy.
Digital extremes collaborate with Grammy-nominated American pro-metal band periphy for an appropriate sound sink to Temple, presumably trying to capture the evasive genre of ‘Songs to Kill Monsters with a Guitar to’. Dope. Did I mention that the new frame is Bowie-inspired? Sorry I have Rock ‘n’ roll suicide To play with maximum volume right now, I can’t hear you.
Shut up on David Bowie, what else?
Okay, I will relax. I have switched over to Soul Love now. What else did we get in Devstream 184? A whole pile of things, actually: warm on the heels of the game’s excellent 1999 update, the reveal of alchemical frame Lavos’ primed variant, Tennocon 2025 -tickets, -were among my favorite moments. We also got to see more of Rhino’s heirloom, a look at upcoming cosmetics including Gyres Deluxe skin and a vicious office chair.
More exciting than all this, however, were some (long awaited) reorganizing for game mechanics: mainly reduction of enemy waves per day. Round in defense missions from 5 to 3. As anyone who plays Warframe Will tell you this is huge: Fewer waves mean faster missions and more rewards for anyone sanded out of long defense goals. We also get a rework to ‘pseudo -exalted’ weapons, increased the tear and counter -capacities and better opportunities to sell or dismantle unwanted duplicate modes. These are all good things.
Maybe more important to me personally is confirmation that we get more conversations with the hex, the six ‘protoframe’ NPCs (non-player characters) that you can chat with (and smook if you have played for it) . Not only that, but your chosen paramor will also keep you company in the Backroom Hub area. Presumably, all the R-classified scenes involving Quincy and Amir will not be among the desires that the Rebb that were scooped from inside my head.
Bad Boy Band
In the end (yes i have missed Lots Of good things out here, but this is my article so I get to choose the music) is the hot expected debut of technocyte coda-earlier a sexy dance-pop boy band known as on-light, now terribly mutated in a gang of five extremely tentacle -Y-DUDES OF THE TECHROT virus that infects the city of Höllvania. Yes, I would still kiss them, but it seems that I will have to just stab them repeatedly.
These enemies sit within the ‘opponent’s’ system already seen in the game with Kuva Liches and Sisters of Parvos – unique, procedurally generated rivals to the player who mock you and steal your stuff until you chase them down and give them Ol ‘double -tap -and they have a selection of Grungy Coda weapons and cosmetic objects.
In even more good news for time-poor players like me, digital extremes have improved the system to get these weapons: rather than farming to an opponent who happens to have the weapon and element combination you are looking for, you simply get tokens it can be exchanged with a weapon At your choice from Eleanor in Höllvania, and a new elementary vice article allows you to swap the item on any Adversary Weapon, backward compatible with gears you previously received from low and sisters. Rebecca, you spoil us.
I could probably continue to talk about some of the major accessibility changes that are coming to the game or the new night season that starts this week (Warframe’s completely free seasonal pass reward track), but I will wrap it up here. You can read the full patch notes on the game’s site, or you can just go and spend the rest of your day playing Warframe, which is what I would rather do than work.
