Hot and dry weather is expected to continue over most parts of Pakistan over the next few days, with very hot conditions predicted for the southern plains, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said Tuesday.
According to PMD, continental air is currently prevalent over large parts of the country and contributes to the ongoing hot and dry spell.
While the majority of regions remain dry, isolated rain winds and thunderstorm activity may occur in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and Upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, similar weather conditions will continue, with temperatures expected to rise further in southern areas such as Sindh and southern Punjab. PMD warned that the afternoon in these regions is likely to be “very hot”, especially in Sindh.
Over the past 24 hours, hot and dry weather was observed in most areas. However, scattered rainfall was registered in parts of the upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. Kalam received 6 mm rain, Pattan 4 mm and Chilas 5 mm. Gupis registered 3 mm, while Skardu, Bunji and back rotate each then 2 mm.
The highest temperature registered in the country on Monday was in Dadu, where the mercury reached 47 ° C. Other high readings included 45 ° C in Khairpur, Mohenjo-Daro and Larkana.
Looking ahead, PMD expects the current weather pattern to last Thursday, with hot and dry conditions predicted for most areas and no significant change expected in the temperature trend.
Citizens are advised to remain hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure in the peak load and take the necessary precautions in areas experiencing very hot conditions
