Water current downstream Tarbela to rise

Islamabad:

In the midst of relentless rainfall in the upper regions and the water level in the Tarbela dam, which caused the authorities to open the dam’s emissions to control the influx.

The operation was scheduled for 1 p.m. 12 on Friday, according to officials who have issued a warning to the citizens residing along the game drives to remain cautious.

Meanwhile, five people caught in the river Indus near dog were safely saved Friday night after a sudden rise in the water level caused by the opening of Tarbela Dam’s waste roads.

According to officials, the incident happened while the individuals swam in the river as the water level raised rapidly, leaving them stranded.

The increase in water was triggered by continuous rain in the upper regions, causing authorities to release water from the dam earlier in the day.

After receiving the emergency call, a rescue 1122 team from Swabi quickly reached the stage. Equipped with a lifeboat, rescue jackets and other safety equipment, the team launched an immediate operation and successfully brought all five people to safety.

Local residents have been asked to adopt preventative measures and avoid venturing near rivers or any high-risk water passages during this period of intensified flow.

Meanwhile, the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) released on Friday 275,954 CUSCS WATER FROM DIFFERENT EDGESS STATIONS WITH A EXECUTE OF 408,931 CUSSCS.

According to the data released by IRSA, the water level in the river Indus at Tarbela Dam was 1,520.00 feet, which was 118.00 feet higher than the dead level of 1402.00 feet. Water inflow and outflow in the dam were registered as 272,900 CUSERCs and 151,500 CUSERCs respectively.

The water level in the river Jhelum at Mangla Dam was 1,178.50 feet, which was 128.50 feet higher than its dead level of 1,050 feet. The influx and outflow of water was registered as 21,577 CUSERCs and 10,000 CUSERCs respectively.

The release of water in Kalabagh, Taunsa, Guddu and Sukkur were registered as 203,798, 178,886, 122,717 and 54,770 CUSSCS respectively.
