- The C button triggers the new game chat mode
- This mode lets change 2 users have audio and video chats with each other
- And that means a switch console will finally have built-in chat settings; Just be prepared to pay for it after a year
We just got a deeper look at the Nintendo Switch 2 and with that came an explanation of the mysterious C button. And C basically stands for chat.
That’s because this new button on the right Joy-Con is designed to trigger the new game chat feature for Switch 2 .. This is a form of chat that is not too far away from Discord that allows users to chat with their friends via a built-in microphone in Joy-Con.
Working in handheld and docked mode also allows gaming chat to you to chat with friends who may be playing different games. Hit the C button basically triggers the game chat mode menu in the game for audio and video chat. And all this works in line with the new Nintendo Switch 2 camera, which of course gives the VideoSeeden, which you can appear in game chat.
Now chatting in games with friends will not be anything new about the PS5 or Xbox series X players, especially since the latter has disagreement support, but for Nintendo it is a whole new world.
The idea here is that chats switch players may have had when playing local multiplayer – think about shouting at each other over being taken to the post in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Or being complacent with Super Smash Bros Ultimate wins – to take place online, with the video aspect that helps get closer to the replication of sofa -based multiplayer.
For me is a 38-year-old player who grew up playing Goldeneye 64At Super Smash Bros, and Mario Kart 64 Multiplayer hung around a CRT TV with neighbors and my brother, I miss some sofa-based multiplayer of my youth.
And while the current Switch offers a rather special personal multiplayer mode, as you can basically start a Mario Kart Tournament on the pub, thanks to the rack and removable Joy-Cons, remote multiplayer with friends is not great because of the lack of a built-in chat for switch.
It all changes with Switch 2 and Game Chat. But there is a light plug in the tail of the game chat will only be free to use for the first year of use, then Nintendo will have that you have to pay for it; What that price will be, so stay up to date and check out our Nintendo Switch 2 Direct Live blog for a beat-by-beat account about what was announced in the latest direct.
