- Apple -Event Day has arrived and we are still looking for mentions of Apple’s first smart ring
- Apple has been playing with the idea of developing a smart ring since already in 2020, but its current status is unknown
- While we don’t expect the Apple Ring to appear on the Apple event would be the biggest surprise of the day if it did
One of the biggest events in tech has arrived: Apple event in September. Of course, the iPhone 17 series will be the star of the show, but it is the lingering expectation of new Apple Watches that makes this event even more exciting.
When it comes to Wearables, Apple has spiced it with Smartwatch, and at least it is considered to make a smart ring – we know this because of patent archiving and other leaks, which suggests it was quite far in the process. If Apple went ahead with the new form factor, it would face a tough competition with the best smart rings – namely Samsung Galaxy Ring.
For the past few years, rumors of the state of Apple’s first smart ring have been floating around, and with just a few hours back to the Apple event, a surprising performance from Apple Ring would be the ultimate microfunction. But how long is it to expect a whole new category of laptop today?
The story so far
Apple has been exploring the idea of developing a smart ring for a few years now, after filing patents for a smart ring as early as 2020. In September 2024, Apple issued a pretty U -subtle Apple Watch survey and asked existing Apple Watch users if they would consider another laptop.
Hype was killed when no further updates were followed, but a delicious resurrected our hope for the Apple ring, sharing that the development was still moving on – as well as moving on with ‘attempts to develop portable devices in the form of ribbons and smart glasses’.
Will today’s Apple event be our first look?
To put it honestly, we do not know, but it is very unlikely. As it says, it seems that the plans for the development of Apple’s first smart ring were progress in addition to experimentation, but has now been paused.
We would not completely exclude Apple’s venture for smart rings considering Samsung’s flagship galaxy ring and Oura Ring 4, but it’s still early days and it’s ambitious to expect it to appear during the Apple event today. But we know for sure when the keynote speaker starts.
