While Nintendo Direct about Switch 2 was only about an hour long, the accompanying Deep Dives released offer even more information and looks at the highly expected console that will be launched on June 5, 2025.
Now, as stained in “Ask Developer Volume 16, Nintendo Switch 2 – Chapter 4,” we get our first look at the redesigned Nintendo eshop. Not only does it look very slimmer and well -organized, but it should also allow for better curation of titles and for you to more easily find titles that interest you.
Like Switch 2’s interface compared to the one of the original, Lite and OLED, it’s not night and day with the store. You still find your primary sidebar on the left side, but it has new options. I’ll show them below, but what catches my eye is the central part next to it entitled “Game Finds for You.”
The shared picture reads: “Hi there, Sarah! Want to find some games? We have recommendations!” Apparently, Nintendo will create a personal curation based on your preferences and it will be updated weekly on Saturdays in this case.
Kouichi Kawamoto, manufacturer, entertainment and development department in Nintendo, says in the post “There is a feature at Nintendo Eshop, which is called for you, which allows you to quickly watch screenshots and watch introductory videos for games.” The team thinks this easier allows you to find something you like within a title and decide whether you want it or not.
In addition, Nintendo Eshop has been optimized and improved to run on Switch 2’s larger 7.9-inch screen. The post detailed that Nintendo thinks it is just as important that the browser experience here to decide what to play is as good as a game.
The new sidebar for eShop reads as:
- Highlighted titles
- Product search
- Games find for you
- Wish list
- Good deals
- Bestselling — Software
- Latest releases
- Coming soon
- Nintendo Switch online
- Enter code
While not a complete redesign, the optimizations that appear here appear to increase faith and improve the recommendation engine a little longer for the eShop. It is still unclear if there are more changes or if this new look can twist down to Switch Lite, Switch or Switch Oled.
