- Samsung Tri-Fold could be called Galaxy G Fold
- Samsung teased the phone last month
- We expect a launch to happen sometime this year
In addition to revealing the Galaxy S25 phones last month, Samsung also teased a new tri-fold folding phone (or multiple folding if you prefer). Now a new leak may have revealed that the name Samsung will give this upcoming handset.
According to the experienced Tipster Yeux1122 (via Android Authority), the new phone Samsung G Fold is called – which will fit into the Naming series Samsung is currently using for Galaxy Z Fold 6.
What exactly ‘g’ stands for here is not ready, but it doesn’t really matter. The letter ‘Z’ would actually be more appropriate for a foldable device with two hinges and three panels, but that moniker is of course already taken.
All this comes after we had the launch of Huawei Mate XT last year. The lecture is that Huawei is working on several folds with this form factor, so it looks like the tri-fold or multiple phone is here to stay.
The story so far
While Samsung has now teased a tri-fold phone, we have no more official details-so we depend on leaks and rumors to find out what to expect when the Samsung G fold (if it’s its name) finally seeing the light of day.
Most characters point to a launch sometime during 2025, possibly next to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 in the middle of the year – in fact, we may get as many as four folds from Samsung in 2025 .
Based on published Samsung patents, we know that the Tri-Fold device may also come with a collapsible battery, which may extend the time between charges (and maybe also adds a bulk to the overall form factor).
A screen size of approx. 9-10 inches are predicted and the Samsung phone could be folded inward, unlike the Huawei Mate XT-so, another screen is required on the back of the handset to use when the handset was closed closed.
