Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rain over Punjab from March 2 to March 4, and offers a respite from the warmer temperatures in the early days of the Holy Month Ramadan.
According to Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the rain will affect most districts including rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab and Mandi Bahauddin. Lahore, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad and Toba Tek Singh are also expected to experience rainfall.
Showerers are also expected for southern regions such as Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalpur, Khanewal, Layyah, Bhakkar, Sahiwal and Pakpattan.
In the hilly areas of Murree and Galyat, rain and snowfall are expected. PDMA General Irfan Ali Khatia has issued a warning to the local authorities to remain vigilant and be prepared for possible disturbance.
PDMA has also notified key departments, including WASA, Rescue, Irrigation and Livestock, to stay aware. Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary journeys during bad weather. PDMA’s control room actively monitors the situation and the help line (1129) is available in emergencies.
Lahore temperatures have fallen after recent rain and snowfall, with the city detecting a low level of 10 ° C. The weather is expected to remain cold and dry over the next two days, with another rain system to arrive before March 3rd.
Meanwhile, PMD in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has warned of further rain, thunderstorm activity and snowfall in the provincial mountainous areas. The districts affected include Chitral, DIR, SWAT, Kohistan, Shangla and several others, with conditions expected to continue until March 4th. PDMA has issued security guidelines to local administrations and encourages them to prepare for potential dangers, such as falling trees and electricity disorders.
