- Honor Choice MouseBuds Pro: on the surface a mouse
- Under the hood, it hides two wireless earphones
- The mouse itself boasts ‘sustained freshness’ for comfortable use throughout the day
Once a cute little house mouse saw a piece of cheese left out and nibbled on it. Unfortunately, the owner had left an AirPod on morceau de cheeseand then the rodent ate it too. For the rest of its life, every time it whizzed by, the homeowner heard bits of it Float on from the humble guy.
The moral of the story is “don’t give earphones to a mouse,” but apparently Honor hadn’t heard this unwritten — and, as far as we know, unspoken — rule (*note: don’t feed any animal to any animal, or yourself), because its modest new piece of productivity kit is hiding an unusual audio extra.
I’m talking about the Honor Choice MouseBuds Pro, released in China at the end of 2025 (sorry) and now available in other parts of the world. They cost £79.99 in the UK, which converts to around $100 (although Honor doesn’t currently sell its set in the US) or AU$160 (but not listed on Honor’s Australian website).

On the surface, it looks like an ordinary wireless mouse. Soft, even, albeit with an excimer “skin-like coating”, quiet buttons, plus “sustained freshness” in the case, but still … pretty much just a mouse.
However, if you open the body of said mouse, you will be surprised to find two wireless earphones located inside.
Squeaky clean earphones
The Honor Choice MouseBuds Pro earphones have an open fit with no removable tip to hold them in place, and the company’s listing doesn’t give much information about them: no driver, frequency response, impedance. Apparently they have ANC and dynamic drivers, but that’s all the website says.
The target audience for this type of set is likely to be office workers who will need to jump into a private call at a moment’s notice, and users will find some readily available earphones that are already paired – so it’s quite handy. Think of the extra work you can do in the seconds you save: think of the productivity, the efficiency, the time optimization!
I imagine it will also be a popular product for people who work in a coffee shop or café and want to hear a voicemail or attend a meeting without fumbling around in your bag for your actual earphones (although please don’t attend work meetings in public coffee shops: it’s so annoying to the rest of us around you).
Apparently the whole package (mouse and buds) lasts for 30 days of use, although it’s unclear how many hours of listening are included.
This isn’t the first hidden earphone technology we’ve ever seen. My mind goes to the Nokia 5710 XpressAudio, a feature phone that came with pre-paired earphones that you can easily use to listen to a tune. From what I’ve heard, these buds didn’t sound very good, but then again, some earphones are better than no earphones when you need it.
Unfortunately, I’m not an expert on the best mouse, so I can’t tell you if this is a great little gem with a hidden secret or a strange novelty. But I am reviewing earphones.
I hate to be pessimistic, after all, Honor makes some great earphones – just look at the Honor Earbuds Open for starters – but I’m worried that these buds won’t sound very good. The mouse isn’t a glorified charging case for some top-tier earphones; the mouse is the point (with the earphones a secondary extra). So get them if you need a hybrid 2-in-1 mouse with buds, but don’t buy them if you just want the best earphones in an alternative case.
