WhatsApp is set to finish its voice recording feature in an upcoming update, making it much smoother and faster to use by allowing users to record voice messages with a single touch.
Some beta testers that downloaded the latest WhatsApp -beta to iOS 25.13.10.70 -Date available on the Test Flight app can now experiment with a new way of recording voice messages that simplify the process significantly, Wabetainfo reported.
Currently, there are two ways to send a voice message on the popular meta-owned instant messaging app.
The first method involves pressing and holding the microphone button in a chat. As soon as the button is released, the voting message is automatically sent if it has been registered for at least one second.
The second method is designed for longer recordings where users can press the microphone button and then push their finger upwards to activate a locked mode. This feature allows users to continue talking without having to hold the button all the time.
With the latest update, however, WhatsApp united these two methods for a single experience, allowing users to start a voice recording with only a single touch.
Specifically, the lock is automatically activated as soon as the user taps the microphone button, eliminating the need to hold the button pressed during the recording. Users no longer have to iron up to trigger the lock.
The new update activates the lock immediately as soon as the microphone button is tapped, eliminating the need for additional movements and causing the entire voice message recording process to feel significantly more fluid to users.
This small but significant fine tuning is likely to reduce friction by sending voting messages, making the action smoother and more natural for everyone.
This change can also save time and simplify daily communication.
It is worth noting that this new behavior may feel a little unknown to users who are used to holding the button or pushing up. After using it a few times, most people will probably think it is intuitive and effective.
The new feature is available for some beta testers that install the latest versions of WhatsApp Beta for iOS from the Test Flight app, and it rolls out to more people in the coming weeks.
