When is Michael Jackson’s biopic released?

Universal, Lionsgate reveals ‘Michael’ release date

MichaelThe upcoming biopic by Michael Jackson, starring in Jaafar Jackson, his nephew, is ready for a new release date on April 24, 2026.

According to reports, Lionsgate will handle the domestic distribution of the Antoine Fuqua-Helede film. For overseas markets, Universal will handle distribution, except in Japan, where Kino Films will act as a distributor.

It is also noted that Michael is set to start the theater period in the summer box office, which usually opens from May, after its original release in October was moved due to what Lionsgate CEO Jon Felheimer shared during the last earnings call in May that the original cut of the film was a 3.5-hour and the need for more conversions.

The film also starred Colman Domingo, Nia Long, Miles Teller, Jessica Sula, Liv Symone, Kevin Shinick, Keilyn Durrel Jones and Kendrick Sampson.

The log line sounds, “‘Michael’ explores the journey of the global superstar to become known to the world as the king of pop, who presents an intimate look at life and lasting heritage from one of the most influential, trailblazing artists that the world has ever known.”
