It’s another glorious college football on Saturday, but maybe going a moment today to remember a big football fan just like you and me who won’t enjoy the day with us.
Charlie Kirk.
As you are undoubtedly at, we lost the influential activist and media personality this week in an abominable act of violence under a turning point US event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

Of course, while Kirk was best known for his work on the political sphere, he was also a great sports fan, especially a big Oregon Ducks fan, a fact noted by Outkick founder Clay Travis.
Despite not being from Oregon, Kirk was a massive fan of the ducks and posted about it fairly regularly.
Back in 2024, he shared a photo of himself with the then Duck’s QB and current Denver Bronco Bo Nix and said he is “an amazing Christian, man and will make a fantastic NFL player.”

Saturday – the first college football on Saturday since his death – Kirk’s ducks were on the road for a game against the northwestern university’s wildcats in Evanston, Illinois, not far from the Chicago suborders where he grew up.
It is unclear what his plans were, but there is no doubt that he would have at least set up.
Given that Kirk spent so much of his career at university campuses with a culture of debate and galvanizing like-minded students, it was a little disappointing not to see many tribute in stage across college football.
However, there have been many from students. There is also no doubt that Kirk was in the mind of many players who took fields across the country over the weekend, including in the Oregon dressing room.

The ducks are back at home on September 20, when they host Oregon State Beavers at Autzen Stadium.
Who knows what the team has planned, but it seems to be such a good time as anyone to take a moment to remember a big fan who left us too soon.
