- HTC has a new pair of smart glasses called Vive Eagle
- They can boast of many of the same features as their rivals
- You can only get them in Taiwan right now
HTC has just announced a new VIVE laptop, but it’s not another VR Headset -instead it’s a pair of stylish AI glasses called Vive Eagle. And I feel twinges of jealousy to anyone who can get a couple.
That’s because these smart specifications could put a good fight against Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses that I have loved (as well as the new Oakley HSTN specifications that take Raybans and make them a smoothing better).
In terms of hardware, VIVE goes to beat with the competition. It boasts a 12MP snapping as well as open ear speakers and a solid battery life of up to 36 hours of standby time and 4.5 hours of music playback while still boasting a slender 49G design.
Where I think it really shines, however, it’s its ai.
This is because even though VIVE’s own assistant can help you with tasks, it can also join forces with your choice of chatgpt or Google Gemini rather than locking you into a favor – like how Meta’s glasses are completely dependent on Meta AI.
As we have come to expect from AI accompanies, VIVE also makes it clear that “all user data is stored locally” on its glasses, which means it is not used for model training. When using third-party AI services, your data is also anonymized to provide improved privacy.
Rounding the AI upgrades are VIVE’s specifications better with language. Metas AI currently lets its smart specifications translate between English, French, Spanish, Italian and German, meanwhile, VIVE supports Arabic, traditional Chinese, English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, Korean, Thai and Turkish.
And I can’t ignore Eagle’s striking design. I’m boring enough to want to grab the translucent black couple, but it is a bit looking through Berry Red, Blueish Gray and Coffee Brown all look beautiful and highlights each perfect specs’ blend of fashion and technology.
Although these glasses with a wayfarer-like shape may not create enough of their own personality from a silhouette perspective.

Unfortunately, they won’t be easy to get your hands on.
First, the VIVE Eagle specifications are currently exclusive for Taiwan. Specifically, you can find them on 2020Eyehaus Premium Eyewear locations and designated Taiwan Mobile Up Experience Stores.
Second, they are more expensive than some of their rivals, such as Meta Ray-Bans and their new Oakley’s collaboration.
Viva’s glasses are currently ready for pre-order and when they are launched on September 1st, they cost NT $ 15,600 (new Taiwan dollars).
It comes to about $ 520 / £ 385 / AU $ 795-Shown is higher than the most expensive Meta Ray-Bans for $ 379 / £ 379 / AU $ 539, and $ 499 / £ 499 / AU $ 789 Oakley Smart Glasses with Prizm-Slaner (ignores Britain, where Oakleys are over £ 100 more).
I will have to try the Eagle glasses out before they make a verdict, but there is apparently much to love here, and as AI glasses’ competition is heated-with Meta Connect Lovering Next-Gen Specifications, and Android XR, which will be due to next year-is VIVE’s Eagle Wearable a welcome addition that I look forward to seeing more.
