Evil Part 1 have finally spelled forward a streaming release date on Peacock
Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande-starring Musical Movie arrive on March 21
This means that fans of the hit movie can’t see it at home before 2025 Oscars
Get ready to sing your lungs out, all together because Evil Finally, the country has a streaming release date.
That’s right, Universal Pictures’ hit film adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical with the same name is set to be released at Peacock in the US next month. Actually it gets its streaming debut at the NBCuniversal-owned service on Friday, March 21 . At the time of the publication of this article, it is just over a month from now.
That’s the good news. The bad news is that Evil – or to give its full title, Wicked: Part 1 – Will not be available to look at home before this year’s Academy Awards Ceremony. Oscars from 2025 will take place on Sunday, March 3, which means that almost three weeks will have passed before one of 2024’s best films is released on one of the world’s best streaming services. If you were hoping to catch the multi-oscar athlete before this year’s glitzest event, you are definitely disappointed.
In some ways it makes sense Evil Would not be available to stream at Peacock before the 97. Academy Awards take place. Evil Has been nominated for 10 Oscars after his theater debut in November 2024, and I would be very surprised if its role crew and crew do not go away with a few gongs at night. There will be more than a few fans who will check it out at Peacock if (or rather when) it has won a prize or four. That said, the timing of its streaming debut is a bit strange. Interest in Evil is probably at its peak in the week before and after Oscars 2025. For me it would therefore be more logical that it will be released on Peacock on February 24 or March 4.

Where can I stream Wicked in England and Australia?

Unfortunately there is no word about when Evil will be available to stream for ‘free’ – that is, by owning a subscription to a streaming platform – on British or Australian coasts. The only way you can currently see it at home is by renting or buying it from online dealers, such as Amazon, Apple TV, Microsoft and Sky.
If you are planning to do so, you need to be quick. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande-starring films will not be nearby much further on Amazon and Sky in the UK. From this article’s publication, it leaves these platforms in three days, so if you read this after February 22, you’re out of luck. Australian audiences have only five days to rent or buy it on Amazon Down Under, so you have for February 24 to see what all that excitement is all about.
Fortunately, it seems that the Apple and Microsoft stores still allow you to buy Evil permanently or temporarily. Anyone who wants to belt out ‘trosing gravity’ from their couch between now and 3 March will then be able to. Just don’t be surprised if you get a bank on the door from your slightly annoyed neighbor if you do!
