A domestic fountain about Samosas turned into a dramatic village crime in India’s Uttar Pradesh, whereby a man was admitted to the hospital and four family members facing attempted murder Ndtv reported Wednesday.
Police said the incident took place on August 30 in the village of Sehrapur, when Shivam, a resident of Anandpur, did not bring Samosas to his wife, Sangeeta.
The argument, which began as a seemingly minor disagreement, escalated rapidly, as Songeta reportedly called her parents – Usha and Ramladaite – and her motherly uncle, Ramotar, the following day.
A panchayat was called on August 31 in the presence of a former village head, Avdhesh Sharma, but the meeting became violent where Shivam was attacked by his wife and her relatives.
According to police, Shivam’s mother, Vijay Kumari, later presented a written complaint, prompting authorities to register a four under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges of attempts to murder.
Officials said a video of the attack has become viral on social media showing the victim and his family members who were beaten. The wounded have been admitted to the hospital for treatment and police say that an investigation of the case is currently underway.
