Wildlife Rangers Punjab rescue a sambar deer, arrest hunters, intensify efforts to curb illegal hunting

Wildlife Rangers Punjab have intensified their province-wide efforts against illegal hunting, rescue of protected species and initiated legal action against violators in several districts.
Officials said a female sambar deer that had strayed from its natural habitat in the Gujarat region was rescued safely during an animal protection operation.
The animal was later shifted to the Wildlife Park in Joharabad where it is receiving proper care and monitoring.
In a separate operation in Rahim Yar Khan, Wildlife Rangers arrested three persons red-handed for illegal hunting of partridges.
The suspects were booked under relevant wildlife protection laws and fined more than Rs 150,000. for violating rules related to hunting protected bird species.
Meanwhile, Wildlife Rangers in Layyah district conducted a raid against illegal hunting activities involving pigeons and doves.
While two suspects managed to escape from the spot, cases have been registered against them and raids are on to ensure their arrest.
Officials said the latest operations reflect the department’s renewed determination to curb wildlife crimes and protect endangered and protected species across Punjab.
