ISLAMABAD:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said he is determined to follow the instructions of PTI founder Imran Khan “to the letter” and will continue to prepare a street movement against the government.

In a post on microblogging site X, Afridi, who belongs to PTI, said on Sunday that his stand on the planned protest against the government remains unchanged and that any news attributed to him “beyond this” is purely one person’s personal interpretation.

“My leader has instructed me to manage the administrative affairs of my province while preparing for a street movement. God willing, I will follow these instructions to the letter,” he said.

Afridi, who is scheduled to visit Karachi next week, noted that Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has invited him for a meeting “in accordance with democratic values and respect for office”.

“I thanked him [Shah] and said that during the visit I would meet the people of my province and if they faced any difficulty or problem there, I would definitely meet him to seek its solution,” he added.

He said on Sunday, January 11 at 4 pm that he will pay his respects at Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s mausoleum. After spending three days in Lahore, CM Sohail Afridi is now set to travel to Sindh as the PTI intensifies preparations for its planned protest on February 8.

The visits are being carried out on the instructions of jailed PTI founder Imran Khan, who has tasked the young KP chief minister with mobilizing the public ahead of a major show of power marking the second anniversary of next month’s general elections.

Afridi’s visit to Lahore, the country’s political powerhouse, courted controversy, with the KP chief minister formally lodging a complaint with his Punjab counterpart over what he alleged was improper treatment during the trip.
