Karachi: The residents of Metropolis on Tuesday woke up to heavy rain and turned the harbor’s weather comfortably after a short spell with warm and humid weather.

As showers reported in several parts of Metropolis, including II Chunrigar Road, Sharea Faisal, Airport Road and others, Weather Expert Jawad Memon has said the city is expected to witness intermittent rain all day today.

“A MONSUN system is present in the Arabian Sea. Due to humidity, the system has transformed into a low-pressure area,” Memon noted while predicting more moderate showers.

The latest showers come on the basis of Pakistan Meteorological Department’s (PMD) forecast for isolated showers in the country’s financial hub until August 23.

With strong monsoon coming into Sindh, PMD noted, rain thunderstorm/rain is expected to have a few moderate to isolated tongue falls in Karachi, Hyderabad, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Larkana, Qambar Shahdadkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Badin, Thatta, Tharparkar and Surrounding Areas.

Meanwhile, SINDH Chief Secretary has instructed the administration, the local government department and Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to remain aware.

“Immediate drainage of rainwater should be secured,” the chief secretary said, instructing the Deputy Commissioners to secure their presence with their staff on the field.

Expansion of weather conditions has the road experts advised the citizens to avoid going out in the light of expected thunderstorms in Karachi.

To encourage citizens to use only their mobile phones for emergency calls during severe thunderstorms, and the wastes have also warned people against bathing and washing of dishes, as lightning can hit a house and can make power pass through iron pipes.
