Windows 11 finally begins to pick up some real momentum as the flagship continues on its long journey to overtake Windows 10 – a milestone that could happen within the next few months.
A significant Uptick in the first few months of 2025 means that the Windows 11 adoption is now at 42.7% (from March 2025), with Windows 10 installing falling to 54.2% (via statcounter)
If recent trends continue, it is possible that the Windows 10 adoption may fall to less than 50% next month – Windows 11, which overtakes Windows 10, may not be that far afterwards.
Windows 11 set to overtake Windows 10?
The sudden growth is largely due to the threatening Windows 10 end of the support that arrived in October 2024, which led to widespread business upgrades to avoid disturbance.
Examination of 2024 as a whole noticed industrial analysts from Canaly’s use of aggressive holiday discounts to get consumers to spend more after a fairly stagnant year. The twelve month period experienced a mediocre 3.9% increase in PC shipments globally, but the company remained optimistic for the coming year.
“The PC market is set to accelerate growth, primarily driven by commercial demand as companies are preparing for the end of Windows 10,” noted main analyst Ishan Dutt.
Businesses are in the midst of refreshing hardware to make more systems compatible with Windows 11, although the user interest has been pretty low with us with few prominent apps and must-haves.
Since the launch of Windows 11, Microsoft has been busy shoeing hyring endless AI features for desktops and laptops across the globe in the hope that consumers and businesses may be more eager to upgrade, not to miss, and thus the emergence of a new category of PC – Copilot PC.
AI-capable PCS accounted for almost one in four (23%) of all PCs in the last three months of 2024; Canalys expects this figure to stand at 35% for 2025.
