- Windows 11 has a new feature for Android mobiles in test buildings
- It allows for syncing the PC clipboard directly to the phone
- This ability is snapped and responsive based on early testing
Windows 11 will have a new ability for those who have linked their Android phone to their PC, namely a feature that allows the clipboard on the desktop operating system synchronized with the mobile device.
Windows latest discovered the functionality of a recent Windows 11 -Preview -Build (from the DEV channel), after which they were activated and tested it.
It works via the Link to the Windows app, so you will need to have it set up on your smartphone, and then the feature can be turned on in Windows 11’s settings. The only other provision is that you also need to use the same Microsoft account on the PC and mobile.
If so, when you activate ‘Access PC’s Clipboard’ in the Mobile Devices panel in the Settings app (and you have turned on clip holder history), what’s the clipboard on your PC to your Android Clipboard.
Windows latest notes that the feature works seamlessly and very quickly. Technical site tried to copy a lump of text on their Windows 11 -PC and it was “immediately” available for inserting the GBOARD keyboard on their Android phone. Access to the clipboard is possible across any keyboard app that the site continues, not only GBOARD.
Also note that this is only for Android smartphones, not iPhones (at least not yet yet).
Analysis: Microsoft increases Windows 11’s phone forces in a big way
It is good to see this clipboard synchronization ability for Windows 11 if you assume it does it through testing (and I can’t see why it wouldn’t). Windows latest tested the feature several times and found that it worked well, and it was also very snappy to transfer over clipboard text.
It can be a real time saving when you have something on your PC that you normally say, e -mail to yourself to access your phone. Instead, you can just highlight and copy that text on the PC and it will be right there on your smartphone ready to paste when you pick up your mobile.
Microsoft has been busy trying to build the integration of smartphones with Windows 11 in the recent past you may have noticed. It includes initiating a panel flowing out of the side of the start menu brushing with phone -related details (and newer activity from your mobile), and the ability to lock your PC externally with your phone to select a few of the more interesting introductions this year.
Don’t forget that another incoming feature allows Windows 11 users to resume what they did in a supported app on their Android mobile (much like Apple’s handover) -and clip synchronization marries nicely with this convenience.
