Dallas Wings Rookie Sensation Paige Bueckers turned to comments she made in 2021 to use her platform to “celebrate black women” during a podcast interview Friday.
In a performance on the “Nilosophy” podcast, Bueckers were asked about her comments on Espy’s 2021 when she said, “I think we should use this power together to celebrate black women as well” while discussing the impact of sports media.
Bueckers answered the question and expressed gratitude to the media while also claiming it “trying to isolate.”

“I just feel like … the media are big. It’s their job to make headlines and get people to click in, press,” BUEKERS said. “Rivalities are great. It makes people talk about our games. They cover our games and they are aware of your game.
“So you have to be grateful to them. But also much of it is, they are trying to isolate you. And for me it was like, it’s so easy to do everything about yourself. The media gives you a drink and should you drink it, or do you want to share it with others?”
Bueckers added that she also aims to give honor to God as well.

“No one does anything of himself, and like spreading, my faith is obviously really important to me. So by using my platform to praise God has been huge and then just scattered light over others. I think it’s, as I said, I don’t want to do anything about myself,” Bueckers said.
In May, after the wings made Bueckers the first overall election in the 2025 WNBA draft, BUeckers again talked about the question of covering black women in the league.
“It’s still a problem every single day,” she said Time Magazine. “There’s not ever equal coverage.”

“There is white privilege every single day that I see,” she said of marketing opportunities.
“I feel like I’ve worked extremely hard, blessed by God. But I think there are more opportunities for me. I feel like I’m just marketable, people tend to favor white people – white men, white women. I think it should be equal opportunities. I feel like there is privilege for what I have and what all white people have. business. “
