A woman attempting a gold theft at a jewelery shop in Banni area of Rawalpindi was caught on CCTV.
The woman posing as a customer stole a gold necklace worth over Rs 550,000 by subtly hiding it in her lap while pretending to organize other items in the jewelery box, Express News reported.
CCTV footage revealed her swift actions, prompting the shopkeeper to lodge a complaint. Police used technology and human intelligence to track down the suspect, identified as Sadaf. She was arrested and the stolen necklace was recovered.
The footage showed Sadaf distracting the jeweler by rearranging items, giving her a moment to pocket the necklace unnoticed. However, her deceptive maneuver was caught in full on the store’s surveillance cameras.
Authorities have confirmed the arrest and recovery.
